16/01/2012

This morning I got up for a run at around 8:00 and went for about 40 min. It seriously is hard to run here with the temperature in the early-to-mid twenties to get i already at that time, as well as with the sea air and the sand - I have however learnt a lesson by using my runners as running directly on the sand blistered my toes pretty badly.
After a shower we went to have breakfast in Omkar - not as nice as last night's dinner - so we'll stick with just dinner there. The German Bakery is undoubtedly the best place for breakfast around here! And they got nice chocolate balls and cakes too ;-)
Claire had strained her neck and shoulder so she was pretty incapacitated and so we booked her in for a back massage where she was attended to not by one but by two women - so she really got value for money I think ;-)
Afterwards we went to Chawdi to a cash dispenser to get money out - initially we went down to one of the local exchange places here but when I started calculating their fees and exchange rates in I came to the conclusion that we'd bleed (!!!) 8.2%, which is just insane.
We both have Moneybookers pre-paid credit cards and they charge 1.99% commission and €1.80 (maximum of €250 equivalent) for cash advances so by taking out enough cash we can keep the total cost ratio at below 3% - with the added protection that noone can take out more money than what is on the card (as opposed to credit limits on ordinary credit cards) while still retaining the option of disputing fraudulent transactions.
Anyway, so we went to Chawdi by cab, took out money and then went to the market there to shop for essentials such as shampoo, tooth paste, a blanket for Claire, Bombay mix etc ;-)
Afterwards I just chilled on our veranda and had a short swim while Claire was trying to relax her back in an effort to make it better - to little avail.
We went to Simrose, a nice but pricy place, and had some curries to eat again - Claire had a hot massage booked for 20:30 so we were in a bit of a hurry. But food, staff and setting was nice - so we decided that we'd come back at some point for their open BBQ and a bottle of wine.
When we returned we realised that they must have forgotten Claire's appointment as noone was there - instead we went to sleep at 20:30.
